The Erie canal stimulated grain from the mid west to the eastern coast. Joseph Dart was an entrepreneur who spotted oppurtunity to invent the grain elevator in 1842. grain elevators quickly remove grain from ships or other transports store it, and dispense it. Darts engineer, Dunbar built many elevators in buffalo, the US, and overseas. Their invention enabled the US to become the worlds leading producer of grains.
