The Micro-computing revolution was launched with the Altair advertisement in popular electronics in 1975. Bill Gates got into programming as a teenager, and dropped out of Harvard to develop BASIC for the Altair. He Co-founded Microsoft in 1976 which developed Windows and the World’s most popular office software. Gates kept Microsoft on its mission and hired his old friend Steve Ballmer who eventually took over for Bill as CEO. Bill Gates, through Microsoft, helped bring computing and the internet to the mainstream.
