The discovery of Quantum physics in 1900 led Einstein to extend if and predict the possibility of laser light. Charles towers invented the laser at Bell Labs in 1958 after inventing the maser. Laser light is coherent,focused, one wavelength, and can be used for cutting or information transmission. Bell labs and other companies began building their own lasers for various purposes. Lasers enabled barcode scanners at supermarkets, data, audio and visual media like CDs and DVDs.
